Review of the City of Ottawa’s ward boundaries. Dear representatives of Ottawa’s Community Associations,
In June 2019, City Council directed City staff to retain an independent consultant to conduct a comprehensive review of the City of Ottawa’s ward boundaries. The review is meant to establish boundaries that could be used in at least three municipal elections (2022, 2026 and 2030) and, perhaps, a fourth municipal election in 2034. The last major review of Ottawa’s ward boundaries occurred in 2004-2005.
I am one of the consultants for the Ottawa Ward Boundary Review 2020 and am writing to invite you and your group to get involved in developing new ward boundaries for the city. There will be two rounds of public consultation. We want to hear what you think!
Round 1 of public consultation is gathering input on matters such as issues with the current ward boundaries and how they might be rectified, how many wards Ottawa should have and how many people there should be in each ward. You can participate by going to the project website atottawa.ca/wardboundary.
Or you can go directly to the Round 1 survey and/or get involved in an online discussion atEngage.Ottawa.ca. You can also attend one of the nine public meetings. Their dates and locations are attached.
Following Round 1, there will be an opportunity to comment on various options for a new ward boundary alignment during Round 2 of public consultation. Round 2 will include a feedback survey, opportunity for online discussion through Engage.Ottawa.ca and another nine public meetings.
Please tell your friends and neighbours about the project. I hope to see some of you at the public meetings.
Best regards,
Beate Bowron, Project Manager, Ottawa Ward Boundary Review 2020

BBQ July 9, 2019
Approximately 250 people attended the July 9th Community BBQ. Hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks were free, funded through CHARA. Drillmaster Express again did the cooking. Children were able to visit a fire truck and a police car and get their questions answered by the drivers.

Once again there was an awesome performance by Junkyard Symphony. Everyone was able to visit Councillor Riley Brockington, Crime Prevention Ottawa, Safer Roads Ottawa, Crimestoppers and the Girl Guides.

Circus Delights provided the bouncy castle. Volunteer provided coolers and ice. The Carleton Heights Community Centre kept the popsicles frozen. We are very thankful for the volunteers helping to make our community one of the best in Ottawa.
